We seek an outstanding individual for this new role.
You will be a charismatic and inspiring leader to the fundraising and communications teams of Weston Hospicecare, implementing strategies to raise awareness of the Hospice’s work and to build voluntary income from its current level of c. £1.2 million pa.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will need to work at both a strategic and operational level combining proven fundraising with an ability to help shape and communicate a vision for the future. Your personal warmth and encouraging style will build lasting and effective relationships with trustees, colleagues, supporters, patients and families. The Hospice will rely on your entrepreneurial approach and sound business skills to evaluate, plan and monitor work to raise income and spot new fundraising opportunities.
Weston Hospicecare, which is located on the North Somerset coast, was founded by the local community 25 years ago. We are the major provider of specialist palliative care in North Somerset, offering in-patient, community and day care services to patients, and bereavement care to their families. All our care is provided free of charge to whoever needs it. It costs nearly £3 million every year to keep the Hospice doors open, of which only 19% is funded by the NHS. The rest is raised each year through the generosity of the local community, fundraising events, partnerships with local companies, schools and churches, charitable trusts, the hospice lottery and our retail division.
The Fundraising and Communications Team employs 8 staff and is supported by numerous volunteers. As their new manager, you will provide effective and decisive leadership to the team, supporting and coaching each team member to achieve their objectives.
