LOROS is one of the UK’s largest hospice charities providing specialist palliative care for adults with a terminal illness and support for their families. The Hospice provides a wide range of care services including a 31 bed Inpatient Unit, Community Nurse Specialists, Day Therapy, Lymphoedema and other Outpatient clinics. Care is provided free of charge, based upon clinical need, across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
You will be responsible for leading and inspiring a team of 85 paid staff and over 700 regular volunteers to generate and grow net voluntary income, currently at £4.5M per annum, to make a major contribution to funding patient care. The main sources of such income are donations, legacies, fundraising events, a weekly lottery, raffles and the profit from a retail business with 27 shops.
In addition, you will devise and implement a strategy and plan for marketing and communications activities across the organisation to optimise engagement with a wide variety of stakeholders. You will also make a significant contribution to the overall strategy and performance of LOROS through effective membership of the Senior Management Committee.
Successful applicants will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, and ideally hold a post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject. Outstanding leadership and communication skills are essential as is innovative and entrepreneurial thinking. You must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of successfully generating income against challenging targets. Evidence of the understanding and effective use of different marketing and communications approaches and techniques is also essential.
