Head of press

Categories: Education.

Help the Hospices was founded in 1984 and is the leading charity supporting hospice care throughout the UK.

Strong relationships with the press are at the heart of our campaigning and advocacy impact. An effective presence within the print, broadcast and online media is essential to help us influence key policy and decision makers, to gain widespread support from the general public, and to deliver on campaign priorities.

We are looking to appoint a head of press who will be responsible for developing and managing our relationships with the media, and our proactive engagement with the news agenda, helping to position us as the leading advocate for hospice care.

You will have significant experience of working in a national media environment engaging with a news agenda, and a proven track record in building relationships with national and specialist media. With excellent communication skills, you will be experienced in identifying news angles in advocacy and campaigns activities, and able to brief journalists on complex issues. Ideally, you will have a background in working in the voluntary, health or social care sectors.
