Hospices to benefit from 2013 Text Santa appeal

Categories: Community Engagement.

Help the Hospices was last chosen for the appeal in 2011 where the charity benefitted from £600,000, which supported hospice care. This had a real impact both on the national work of Help the Hospices and the local work carried out by our member hospices, making a difference to the lives of terminally ill people and their families.

David Praill, chief executive of Help the Hospices, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to feature in this year’s Text Santa appeal. This is the second time we have been supported by Text Santa in recent years.

“We are looking forward to working again with ITV to highlight the tremendous value of hospice care and share inspiring stories of terminally ill patients and their families.”

Text Santa is ITV’s biggest campaign and last year raised over £5.5 million for six UK charities, including Age UK, Anthony Nolan, Carers UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Together for Short Lives and Whizz-Kidz.

The other charities to benefit from this year’s appeal are: Age UK, Barnardo’s, CLIC Sargent, BeatBullying and the British Heart Foundation.
