Isabel Hospice in Hertfordshire has won the Excellence in Customer Commitment Award at Hertfordshire’s Chamber of Commerce Inspiring Hertfordshire Awards.

Hospice nurses , living well therapists and families who have loved ones being cared for by the hospice, were joined by the charity’s CEO and Chair of Trustees at St Alban’s cathedral for the awards ceremony.

Sponsored by Austin’s Family Funeral Directors, the application submitted by the hospice focussed on how they ensure that patients and their families have a positive experience. Robin Webb, chief executive, said:

“With end of life care, our teams only get one chance to get it right. The ripple effect of a good, or bad death, affects the patient’s family or carers for the rest of their lives.”

“Thank you to all our staff and volunteers who made this award possible for the unerring commitment they give to providing the best possible care for those living with life-limiting illnesses across eastern Hertfordshire.”

Their application included feedback such as:

“There are not enough words to convey our appreciation of the amazing care you gave our Mum. However, here are some “outstanding, calming, understanding, supportive, empathy, selfless, warm, kind, reassuring”. Special thanks to the night nurses who allowed us to have some rest at a time we really needed it.”

The award comes hot on the heels of last year’s wins for Community Champion and Most Inspiring Business 2018.
