Isabel Hospice provides specialist palliative care for 12 – 14 inpatients, care in the community and day services. The hospice has a strategy, which includes plans for the future development of local care centres. We provide symptom control, terminal and respite care and services for family/carers, using a holistic approach. We have a large volunteer workforce that supports the hospice with its care provision who we also invest in their education and development.

We have an exciting vacancy for a Lecturer/Practitioner working three days per week across all clinical areas; leading on the development and continuous improvement of clinical skills and knowledge in end of life care.

The successful candidate will be a well-organised, self-motivated teacher and practitioner who has the ability to work with staff and volunteers in all clinical areas. You’ll need to be creative and use problem solving skills to engage and motivate learners. As a registered nurse educated to degree level or with a relevant professional qualification/teaching qualification, you will have energy, enthusiasm and passion for the subject and have the ability to support the multi-disciplinary teams across the hospice.

You will need to have previous experience in a specialist palliative care setting and have a strong range of clinical nursing skills. You should have excellent communication skills and be fully confident with advance care planning and holistic needs assessment .You should have high personal standards and the ability to work in a flexible, innovative way with staff and volunteers in all clinical settings.

Occasional evening and weekend working may be required. Experience in patient safety and experience is desirable but not essential.
