Light up a Life with Heart of Kent Hospice in December

Categories: Care and Fundraising.

Heart of Kent Hospice is inviting everyone to join together for a service of remembrance and reflection, to light a candle and dedicate a star in memory of a loved one at The Friars, Aylesford Priory on Sunday 10 December, at 4:30pm.

Light up a Life is a beautiful, poignant occasion which brings everyone together at Christmas which can sometimes be a difficult time when you have lost someone dear to you.

At the service, it can be comforting to know that you will be in the company of others who are also remembering their loved-ones.  Everyone is encouraged to come along with a friend, with your family or come on your own with your private reflections and cherished memories.

Everyone is welcome. The programme of uplifting music and words is sure to touch the hearts of everybody who attends.

If you are unable to attend the service, you can still make a dedication to those who have lit up your life. You can also dedicate a donation in memory of someone.

Clare Bushell, In Memory & Regular Giving Manager says:

“We look forward to sharing your memories with you on the evening of our Light up a Life Appeal which gives everyone in our local community the chance to remember their loved ones with light and love, and to give thanks for the compassionate care that the Hospice continues to deliver.  When you choose to remember the life of your loved one as part of our Light up a Life Appeal you are helping us to continue to care for patients and their families in your local community.

“I hope this beautiful service brings all those who have come along some comfort; I will be remembering my own dad who was fortunate enough to receive the wonderful care of the hospice team last year in his last days.”

About Heart of Kent Hospice

Heart of Kent Hospice has been providing free, compassionate, end-of-life care to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones in Maidstone, Aylesford, Tonbridge and Malling and the surrounding towns and villages for the past 32 years.

The Hospice has built an excellent reputation within the local community for the quality of its care, which has been further endorsed by the Care Quality Commission who awarded us with an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ following an inspection in February 2017.

Our vision is for everyone living with a terminal illness in our community to achieve the best quality of life. We are committed to achieving this by enabling them to live in comfort, with independence and dignity to the end of their lives, and to support those closest to them.

Last year the Hospice cared for over 1,800 patients and their families in their own homes or at our Aylesford-based Hospice. Our services cost £5 million a year to run, and we depend heavily on our loyal community of supporters, whose generous donations and fundraising activities raise over £4 million.
