Heart of Kent Hospice Sunflower Appeal: A Celebration of Life and Love

Categories: Care and Fundraising.

Heart of Kent Hospice in Aylesford is delighted to announce the launch of its annual Sunflower Appeal, a heartfelt initiative dedicated to remembering and celebrating the lives of loved ones whilst raising money to continue to provide the hospice’s end-of-life care services.

As part of the appeal the hospice is inviting people to come along to their beautiful grounds to take part in one of three special remembrance services.

Miranda Gibbs, In Memory & Regular Giving Manager at the hospice, expressed: “This annual hospice fundraising appeal is very special in our calendar as it brings people together to celebrate the life of a loved one. At each of our Sunflower remembrance services, we will be honouring loved ones in the knowledge that by leaving a donation, we are also helping the hospice to continue to offer free support, care and comfort to others who are also losing someone dear to them.

“Together, we can make a difference and ensure that Heart of Kent Hospice remains a beacon of compassion and care in our community.”

Please join us at one of our remembrance services which take place on:

  • Sunday, 22 June 2025 at 12pm or 3pm
  • Wednesday, 25 June at 1.30pm

These services provide a serene and supportive environment where families and friends can come together. You will have the opportunity to participate in various activities, including a plant sale and refreshments, which will help foster a deep sense of community and shared remembrance.

Anyone is welcome to support Heart of Kent Hospice by donating or purchasing the special sunflower-themed merchandise. Each item serves as a beautiful memento, symbolising hope and the enduring love held for those we’ve lost.

Merchandise available to purchase and support our Sunflower Appeal:

  • Packet of Sunflower Seeds
  • Sunflower Pin Badge
  • Sunflower Memory in a Bottle
  • Gift Set

—————–

Heart of Kent Hospice has been providing free, compassionate, end-of-life care to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones in Maidstone, Aylesford, Tonbridge and Malling and the surrounding towns and villages for the past 34 years.

The Hospice has built an excellent reputation within the local community for the quality of its care, which has been further endorsed by the Care Quality Commission who awarded us with an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ following an inspection in February 2017.

Our vision is for everyone living with a terminal illness in our community to achieve the best quality of life. We are committed to achieving this by enabling them to live in comfort, with independence and dignity to the end of their lives, and to support those closest to them.

Last year the Hospice cared for over 2,000 patients and their families in their own homes or at our Aylesford-based Hospice. Our charity needs to raise £6.6 million to deliver all the Hospices services, and we depend heavily on our loyal community of supporters, whose generous donations and fundraising activities raise money for us every year.
