Macmillan wins top BMA patient information award

Categories: Education.

The resource was crowned the 2013 BMA Patient Information Resource of the Year at a ceremony in London on 17 September.

The booklet, which also scooped the Information that Aids Decision Making award, helps people plan ahead for their future care at the end of life, and includes documents and forms to help people legally set down their wishes. It is for people living in England and Wales, and versions for Scotland and Northern Ireland will be available next year.

Commenting on the awards, Adrienne Betteley, Palliative and End of Life Care Programme Manager at Macmillan, said they were absolutely delighted that the booklet had won both prizes.

“We will continue producing high-quality, reliable information for people affected by cancer so that no-one faces cancer alone,” she added.

The BMA awards recognise excellence in the production of accessible, well-designed and clinically balanced patient information.
