‘Always Here’ encourages people to remember loved ones this festive period by visiting the charity’s latest digital platform and uploading their photos, films and stories, before personalising their content with a photo frame.
They can then download the image and choose to make a donation online or by texting MEMORY to 70020 to donate £3 towards Marie Curie’s nursing care. Supporters can also upload their content via Twitter using the hashtag #AlwaysHere.
The wall is full of portraits and personal messages of remembrance. Margaret Gray is remembered fondly by her sister Clare Creaney:
“My beautiful sister passed away on 30th October 2014. Her first Christmas in heaven. Sleep tight baby sister. love and miss you every day xxx”
Andrea and Owen reflect on a Christmas without their mum:
“In loving memory of my wee mum Elsie. She loved Christmas, the lights, the decorations, the food! Buying presents for everyone she knew (that took a while). We will struggle getting through Christmas without you – 1st year. Living without you is very difficult but you and I miss you every day, love you always, Andrea and Owen xxx”
And Ronnie Ingram simply says:
“I have an angel watching over me, I call him Dad. Love and miss you so much xxx”
Commenting on the latest campaign, Marie Curie’s Head of Digital Claire Hazle added:
“At this time of year, we naturally think about loved ones who are no longer with us. At Marie Curie we wanted to create an online space where people could reflect and share their thoughts with others who were feeling a similar way. We’ve been privileged to have some very emotional and touching stories shared with us already, in what is becoming a really beautiful collection of memories.”
The campaign complements Marie Curie’s involvement as one of six UK charities to benefit from this year’s ITV Text Santa appeal, alongside the children’s palliative care charity, Together for Short Lives.
