The scholarships are available to nurses and midwives in the UK working in all areas of care. However, this year the Foundation is particularly interested in supporting scholarships in four key areas:
- end of life care
- long term conditions (including dementia) across the whole care pathway
- projects that improve the patient/user experience, enhance dignity, health or wellbeing
- enhancing clinical leadership.
Research Scholarships provide up to £5,000 for a scholar to undertake a course in research methods, research modules or a dissertation/thesis as part of an academic course of study. The Foundation will also consider post doctoral nursing or midwifery research projects. The closing date to apply for this scholarships is 15 May 2013.
Travel Scholarships provide £5,000 to give the scholar an opportunity to study practice elsewhere in the UK or overseas to enhance patient/user care in the UK. The closing date to apply for this scholarships is 31 July 2013.
Leadership Scholarships provide up to £15,000 to nurses, midwives and AHPs who want to become leaders and contribute positively and with some significance to the rapidly changing world of healthcare. Recipients undertake a bespoke programme geared to his or her individual needs based on current performance assessment. The closing date to apply for this scholarships is 18 September 2013.
