Fixed Term 3 months
Salary: AfC Band 6 £30,939 – £40,809 (pro rata) per annum inclusive
Hours: 15 per week
We urgently require a people-focused person with patient/carer assessment skills to work on the Compassionate Neighbours Hackney project. This project has a small cohort of highly trained volunteers (called Compassionate Neighbours) who are able to provide social support for carers. The volunteers tend to come from communities in Hackney who don’t traditionally access hospice care, and so an element of the Compassionate Neighbours work is about signposting carers to find the support they need. Others come from communities that can feel socially isolated due to family networks living far away.
The key tasks for the next 3 months are:
- Assessing carers in their own homes or at the hospice as to need and suitability for the project
- Promoting the project to both external and internal audiences to generate referrals
- Liaise with Social Action for Health on matching up carers with trained volunteers (Compassionate Neighbours)
- Developing a good working relationship with the existing Compassionate Neighbours
- Working closely with our PhD student in evaluating the project
You will need to have substantial experience of working with volunteers, carers and preferably have experience of end of life care issues. You will be confident in representing the project and the hospice to external groups. Ideally we are looking for someone who can work on the project two days a week, but can consider applicants who are able to offer less hours.
For more information about the role, please contact Sarah Thompson, Director of Fundraising and Engagement on s.thompson@stjh.org.uk or on 020 8525 6009.
We offer 27 days holiday (pro rata) plus 8 public holidays (pro rata) and excellent occupational pension scheme.
Applicants are subject to a DBS check (previously CRB).
Application form and job description via website www.stjh.org.uk/current-vacancies or telephone Human Resources on 020 8525 6068.
