Categories: Community Engagement and Fundraising.

In celebration of ‘International Day of Charity’ and in support of Heart of Kent Hospice, the artist, Ralph Steadman, who lives in Maidstone, auctioned off a hand coloured screen-print in a 12-hour auction which raised £2,050 for the Hospice.

The winning bidder was from California in America.  Ralph has also been named as one of the artists whose designs will be part of the new free art trail coming to Maidstone in the summer of 2024.

Ralph, who is a regular supporter of the Hospice, and designed ‘Elly-do, Ely-don’t, Elly-dance’ which raised £15,500 at Elmers Big Heart of Kent Parade Auction in 2021, has this week been confirmed as one of the artists whose designs will appear as part of the 50 unique designs making up Shaun in the Heart of Kent Art Trail coming to Maidstone in the summer of 2024.

The Hospice has already signed up several sponsors for this event but there are still a few exciting sponsorship opportunities available for anyone interested in getting involved with this exciting new project.  To find out more and to register your interest contact Project Manager Erica Snow on 07596 856667.

About Heart of Kent Hospice

www.hokh.org

Heart of Kent Hospice has been providing free, compassionate, end-of-life care to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones in Maidstone, Aylesford, Tonbridge and Malling and the surrounding towns and villages for the past 32 years.

The Hospice has built an excellent reputation within the local community for the quality of its care, which has been further endorsed by the Care Quality Commission who awarded us with an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ following an inspection in February 2017.

Our vision is for everyone living with a terminal illness in our community to achieve the best quality of life. We are committed to achieving this by enabling them to live in comfort, with independence and dignity to the end of their lives, and to support those closest to them.

Last year the Hospice cared for over 1,800 patients and their families in their own homes or at our Aylesford-based Hospice. Our services cost £5 million a year to run, and we depend heavily on our loyal community of supporters, whose generous donations and fundraising activities raise over £4 million.
