Retail supervisor

St Cuthbert’s Hospice opened in 1988, as a local charity providing free care services to people with life-limiting illnesses in North Durham, as well as supporting their families and carers. We aim to meet the clinical, psychological, social and spiritual needs and wishes of all those who need the hospice, at every stage of their journey. Our inpatient unit consists of 10 beds offering 24 hour care in beautiful surroundings. Our day hospice cares for up to 15 patients a day, four days a week. As well as funding from the Foundation Trust, as a registered charity we have to raise £1.2 million each year to continue providing this kind of care to the local community. Retail plays a large part in this and currently we have 6 charity shops across North Durham with plans to expand in the future.

We have on average 62 employees and over 350 volunteers. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self motivated individual to supervise our friendly and dynamic team at our Sacriston shop. The successful applicant will supervise the daily operation of a retail charity shop and lead the team to effectively achieve the sales budget and control costs.

You will be a team player, have demonstrable supervisory experience in the retail/commercial or voluntary sector to supervise with the daily operation of a retail charity shop. You will work flexibly as part of a job share with our existing retail supervisor and volunteer team to effectively achieve the sales budget and control costs. You will have excellent customer service skills and promote the profile of the hospice.

As an employee of St Cuthbert’s Hospice you will benefit from 25 days annual leave per year pro rata (rising to 27 after 5 years service), in addition to Bank Holidays.

Salary: £13,808 to £16,894

Hours: 16 hours per week
