The scholarships are open to registered nurses, midwives or health visitors who are committed to developing person-centred cultures of care.
The Richard Tompkins Nurse Development Scholarship 2013 includes:
- attendance at a 5-day residential international practice development school (24 – 28 June 2013). The scholarship covers the cost of the course fee, accommodation, food and reasonable travel expenses. FoNS has been involved in these schools for more than 10 years and believe that they enable individuals to gain knowledge and skills to facilitate the development of more person-centred cultures of care
- opportunity to work towards academic accreditation as a distance learner (20 CAT points at level 6) from Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent
- 12 months mentorship from FoNS to support an innovation in practice
- opportunity to work towards publishing a paper in the International Practice Development Journal as a novice writer
- honorary FoNS Associate registration for 12 months.
The late Richard Tompkins saw the potential of FoNS to enable nurses to develop knowledge and skills that benefit patients. Mrs Elizabeth Tompkins from the Tompkins Foundation is supporting this scholarship opportunity.
Closing date for applications is 5pm, 28 March 2013. For further information contact: kate.sanders@fons.org
