Carolling for a cause is coming to Denny this festive season as Strathcarron Hospice is set to benefit from a national Ring fundraising campaign inspired by the five local boys who captured hearts across the nation with their spontaneous doorstep carolling performance.

From 8th December, people can participate in #RingAndSing by capturing their own performance of a Christmas carol on their Ring Video Doorbell

For every video shared using the ‘Share’ button in the Ring app or on social with #RingAndSing, Ring will donate £10 to Strathcarron Hospice
The five Denny boys, whose Christmas carolling video went viral with nearly two million views, have inspired the launch of #RingAndSing – a nationwide campaign to help spread Christmas joy and strengthen neighbourly connections this festive season.
The heartwarming original video, captured on a neighbour’s Ring Video Doorbell, showed the boys delivering an impromptu performance that resonated with millions of viewers craving genuine community connection during the festive season.
The doorstep performance of the Denny Five, which has been enjoyed by people the world over, has inspired Ring to launch #RingAndSing. Between 8th and 15th of December, anyone across Scotland, the UK and Ireland can participate in Ring’s #RingAndSing campaign by capturing their own performances of a Christmas carol on Ring Video Doorbells and sharing their videos using the ‘Share’ button in the Ring app or on social with #RingAndSing.
“When we saw the boys’ video and read the enormous amount of comments celebrating their performance, we knew we had to do something special,” said Dave Ward, Ring’s UK & International Managing Director. “In a world where we’re increasingly disconnected from our neighbours, these five lads reminded us of the simple joy that comes from showing up at someone’s door and sharing a song. That’s exactly what #RingAndSing is all about – inviting the entire nation to join them in reviving this beloved tradition, all while raising money for a great cause.”

For every video shared, Ring will donate £10 to Strathcarron Hospice ensuring that the joy of carolling extends to families who need it most this Christmas. The Denny Five will personally help select their five favourite performances from the submissions – and those five clips will receive a £1,000 Amazon Gift Card and a Ring Video Doorbell for their entire road, as a thank you for spreading Christmas cheer.

One of the Denny doorstep performers, Dylan Thomson, commented: “I can’t believe we have been able to give five people a great Christmas through RingAndSing! Merry Christmas everyone, bye love you!”
Erin Chalmers, whose Ring Video Doorbell captured the original performance, added: “Strathcarron Hospice has a huge place in my heart. Who’d have thought my Ring Doorbell would bring so much happiness to a nation! Ring are going above and beyond for an amazing cause!”
The timing of #RingAndSing couldn’t be more relevant as new research* commissioned by Ring reveals that 96% of us have witnessed a decline in carol singing in our area – with the average person not having seen carollers at their door for four years. Less community engagement was cited by 44% of respondents as the primary driver behind this decline.

The appetite for bringing back this tradition is clear. After watching the Denny boys’ performance, nearly two-thirds (63%) of people said it made them wish carol singing was more common, while three-quarters (74%) agreed that carolling brings smiles and spreads joy to their community.

Mags McCarthy, CEO Strathcarron Hospice commented: “This incredible collaboration with Ring this Christmas – featuring our wonderful local Denny Boys – will not only spread festive cheer, but give everyone taking part the heart-warming knowledge that they’re helping provide vital palliative and end-of-life care for patients and their families, for whom this could be their last Christmas together. What a special gift indeed.”
From Monday 8th December through Monday 15th December, communities across the nation are invited to reconnect through song and help Ring support Strathcarron Hospice this Christmas.

About Strathcarron Hospice

Strathcarron Hospice supports people across Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth who are living with a life-limiting condition. We help people live well, die well, and make every moment count – for patients and for the families who love them. More than 80% of our care is delivered in people’s own homes through our Specialist Community and Hospice at Home teams, alongside specialist In-Patient care at the Hospice. Our multidisciplinary team includes nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, creative art facilitators, pharmacists, social workers, complementary therapists, chaplains, consultants in palliative medicine and specialty doctors. As a local charity, we must raise approximately £19,452 every single day, so our services can remain free for everyone who needs us. With only one third of our funding coming from the Government, we rely on the kindness and commitment of our communities. People walk, run, cycle, bake and take on countless incredible challenges to support their local Hospice – and we simply couldn’t be here without them. Together, we make every moment count.
