The National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC) is the umbrella charity for all those involved in palliative, end of life and hospice care in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We believe that everyone approaching the end of life has the right to the highest quality care and support, wherever they live, and whatever their condition. We work with government, health and social care staff and people with personal experience to improve end of life care for all.

We are looking for an experienced, operational manager with a full range of management, business, finance and IT skills who is able to lead and motivate a small dedicated team and work with a range of experts and advisors. 

Role Summary:

To ensure the smooth and efficient management and programming of all NCPC’s activities and to work with the chief executive and the senior management team on the implementation and monitoring of NCPC’s annual Service Delivery Plan. 

To ensure all projects are managed and delivered on time and to budget with the proper reporting in place. 

To work with the finance team to oversee the organisation’s budget and ensure all projects are delivered within budget, ensuring cost savings wherever possible. 

To manage a team of three staff (initially) across various disciplines and support the public and parliamentary team to carry out their work-plans.

To carry out regular support and supervision sessions to maintain a motivated team, who are encouraged to develop their skills to meet the targets set out in the Service Delivery Plan.

To promote market and develop NCPC’s activities and, with the team, ensure that planned targets and programmes for subscriptions, publications and events are met. 

Salary: Circa £40,000 depending on skills and experience

Hours: 35 hours per week – involves some flexible working
