Virtual tour of hospice created to ease patients’ fear

St Helena Hospice in Colchester has produced a virtual tour of the hospice facilities to help ease any fears people may have before visiting.

The virtual tour is a panoramic video, which means the camera filmed 360 degrees, capturing every inch of each room.

The video has been created as a tool to share with patients and families, visitors, healthcare professionals and supporters. The hospice enlisted Essex based company Bubble Image to film and edit the video.

Jo Tonkin, St Helena’s director of care, said: “Many people are often frightened before they come to the hospice or our day centres as they are unsure what to expect when they arrive, with some perceiving it to be like a hospital.

“We are hoping that by sharing this video with them before they visit that we can ease some of their fears and show our welcoming, homely environment, with our friendly staff and volunteers.”

To experience the tour of the building, when watching the video on a compute, drag your mouse from left to right to see around the rooms as the tour goes on; or if watching on your mobile or tablet, swipe your fingers to navigate around.
