Healing garden in Connecticut opens to much fanfare

Categories: Uncategorized.

A $100,000 healing garden that’s the first of its kind in the state opened Friday morning (08/15/14) at the Center for Hospice Care in Norwich to fanfare and appreciation by hospice volunteers and clients.

“The garden is part of our commitment to provide care and comfort to people who are grieving the loss of their loved one,” said Center for Hospice Care President and CEO Carol Mahier. Of Connecticut’s 32 hospices, the Norwich location is the only one to have a healing garden, Mahier said. “It sort of takes my breath away every time I come here,” she said.

A public reception was held on Saturday that included live music, garden tours, activities for children and refreshments.
