BAYADA Chief Government Affairs Officer David Totaro was recently elected as chair of the board of directors for the Hospice Action Network, an affiliate of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO). The Hospice Action Network is an active force in Washington, D.C. advocating for legislation and regulatory action on behalf of the hospice and palliative care community.
In his role as board chair, Totaro also leads the HAN executive committee and sits on the NHPCO board of directors.
“We are fortunate to have an exceptional health care leader like Dave serving as board chair of the Hospice Action Network,” said NHPCO President and CEO Edo Banach. “Building on his longstanding commitment to patients and families and leveraging his expertise in grassroots advocacy, Dave will lead HAN in its important work to influence federal policy that expands access to high quality hospice and palliative care for all Americans in need.”
Totaro also represents BAYADA with several other national organizations based in Washington D.C. He is currently serving as chairman of the Partnership for Medicaid Home-Based Care (PMHC), a D.C. based alliance of Medicaid home care providers, managed care companies, national and state home care associations and technology companies. He also serves as a board member of the Partnership for Quality Home Health (PQHH), the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA), and is on the Advocacy Council of the National Home Care and Hospice Association (NAHC).
HAN also extends its deep appreciation to previous board chair Angela Sells, Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations of AseraCare Hospice & Palliative Care Medicine, who concluded her term as chair on June 1, 2020.
