Culturally Competent, Inclusive, Holistic, and Humble Approach to Palliative, Hospice, and End-of-Life Care for the LGBTQ Adult is a free live webinar on Thursday, June 27, 2019, 12:30 to 1:30 PM ET. This program is offered by MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative.
The overall goal of this webinar is to provide useful strategies in the practice of effective and empathic communication around SOGIE (sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression) information for all patients and, most especially, the older LGBTQ adult. It is incredibly important that to do so, and all clinical and non-clinical staff need to understand and recognize the lived experiences of this population and mitigate implicit biases towards them. In so doing, we thereby provide care in a manner of inclusivity through the delivery of high quality holistic and humanistic geriatric, palliative, hospice, and end-of-life care. This will be a step further in normalizing conversations, opening minds and hearts, and creating a shift in the culture of utmost acceptance.
Speakers are: Noelle Marie C. Javier, MD, and Anup Bharani, MD, Assistant Professors of Medicine, Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York.
CE is available for nurses and social workers – but all are welcome!
