Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care is thrilled to announce the promotion of Dr. William Russell to Medical Director and Senior Director of Medical Operations at its locations in the greater Baltimore area. In his new roles, Dr. Russell will not only oversee the physicians at our Maryland offices but also lead our interdisciplinary teams that serve and support our hospice and palliative care patients.
Dr. Russell joins Seasons from the Medical Specialists of the Palm Beaches where he served as both Medical Director and CMIO/Geriatric Subgroup Lead. During his tenure at the Medical Specialists of the Palm Beaches, Dr. Russell built a geriatrics primary care practice in Atlantis and Lake Worth, Florida that provided ambulatory care and care for the homebound and institutionalized elderly. As CMIO, he developed population health and analytics strategies that improved patient outcomes and provider effectiveness.
Dr. Russell is licensed in both Florida and Maryland and joins Seasons with more than 33 years of experience with a focus on internal, geriatrics and palliative care as well as clinical informatics. We know firsthand the skill that Dr. Russell has, as he has been an attending physician, serving our own Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care patients since 2017. Dr. Russell has also served as CEO of GuardianMed, CMIO of ChenMed and VP of Informatics at Erickson Living Management.

Dr. Russell is a member of the LTPAC IT Collaborative, Florida Medical Directors Associations and the Society of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine. He received his doctoral degree from Georgetown University and completed his residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He received his Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatrics in 1989.
Dr. Russell will start his new role on Oct. 22, 2018.
