Virtual Hill Week 2019

Categories: Policy.

It is a busy time in Washington, DC as the Hospice Action Network is working on support for two bills, responding to the recent OIG reports, and ramping up for Virtual Hill Week September 9-13!

Mark your calendars to join Hospice Action Network (HAN) on September 9-13, 2019 for Virtual Hill Week. Wherever you are, you can participate by calling, emailing, and tagging your Members of Congress to voice your support for issues of important to the hospice and palliative care community in the U.S.  There is a lot to advocate for, so plan to connect with your Members of Congress during this week of action.

In order to help you prepare for Virtual Hill Week, HAN and NHPCO are offering a FREE three-part webinar series. Please join us to learn more about being a successful advocate, NHPCO’s policy priorities, and details on how to participate in Virtual Hill Week.  Learn more and register for the webinars.

Given recent attention on reports issued by the Office of the Inspector General, please rest assured that NHPCO is working closely with stakeholders and policy makers to address these egregious situations and develop additional program integrity measures. Learn more and read NHPCO President and CEO Edo Banach’s remarks to the field.

In response to the negative examples of care deficiencies cited in the OIG report, it is now more important than ever that hospice and palliative care advocates step forward to tell their stories: stories of high-quality, person-centered, caring and compassionate hospice care. If you feel passionately about the amazing care hospice provides and want to share your stories, please submit them to the MyHospice Campaign.

Additionally, if you have not yet contacted your Members of Congress asking them to cosponsor PCHETA and the Rural Access to Hospice Act, please do so now! If you already did, can you do it again and then forward the links to a friend and ask for their support as well?  There are still Members of Congress who should be supporting these two bills who have not signed on yet. With your help, we can get their support.
