International Childhood Cancer Day 2025

Categories: Care.

International Childhood Cancer Day which will be on 15 February is a global collaborative campaign to raise awareness about childhood cancer and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer, the survivors, and their families.

The day promotes increased appreciation and deeper understanding of issues and challenges relevant to childhood cancer and impacting children/adolescents with cancer, the survivors, their families, and society as a whole. It also spotlights the need for more equitable and better access to treatment and care for all children with cancer, everywhere.

In the span of three years (2024 – 2026), the Childhood Cancer International (CCI) initiated and led the International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) campaign embarks on a transformative journey, centered around understanding and addressing the challenges faced by childhood cancer patients, caregivers, survivors, health care professionals, and researchers worldwide. The campaign is designed to progress through distinct phases, each contributing to a comprehensive narrative that evolves with time.

The goal in 2025 is to inspire action and drive collective progress. In the future, the aim is to incorporate metrics to assess the impact of these initiatives, further driving evidence-based advocacy and action.

The campaign targets patients, parents, and survivors; patient advocates and representatives; members of CCI, SIOP, and other health-focused organisations; healthcare professionals; policymakers and decision-makers; and the general public.

Engaging this diverse audience ensures a holistic approach to addressing the challenges of childhood cancer at local and global levels.

Building upon the insights gathered in the first year, the campaign’s second phase shifts its focus to actionable solutions. It delves into the collaborative efforts and initiatives emerging in different regions to overcome the identified challenges. By highlighting these proactive measures, the campaign aims to inspire a collective commitment to eradicating obstacles and inequalities in the realm of childhood cancer care and research.

By the end of the campaign, the aim is to create a comprehensive map showcasing impactful initiatives, meaningful actions, and innovative solutions implemented locally and globally.
