Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Conference kicks off!

Categories: Education.

From 31 October to 2 November, the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association will bring together over 600 hospice palliative care clinicians, researchers, educators and volunteers from across Canada and around the world to share their knowledge, ideas and experiences in hospice palliative care.

The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Conference features over 100 Canadian and international experts presenting on the latest developments in hospice palliative care research, advance care planning, pediatric care, spiritual care, bereavement, dementia, palliative care in long-term care, clinical practice, programs, education and international issues.

The theme of the 2013 Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Conference is Integrating Hospice Palliative Care into Health Care: Moving Forward. The CHPCA believes that key aspects of hospice palliative care should be better integrated with ongoing health care, available to individuals and their families at appropriate times during an illness in the community setting they choose. Dr Nick Goodwin delivered the opening plenary: “Integrating care to people with complex health and social care needs: key lessons and markers for success from the international experience.”

For those who can’t join the delegates in Ottawa, the CHPCA will be live tweeting sessions under the hashtag #CHPCA2013. Be sure to follow along!
