The massive open online course (MOOC) run by the world-leading International Observatory on End of Life Care at Lancaster University is suitable for anyone with a personal or professional interest in palliative care.
It is the third year the course has run, with thousands of participants taking part in 2016 and 2017. Previous participants described the course as “very useful” and said they had been “inspired to make a difference” in their local community after taking part.
Over three weeks, participants will learn about the concept of palliative care and how it can be integrated with other types of care. They will hear from international experts about real-life examples of best practice and have the opportunity to discuss how to care for people who are approaching the end of life.
The MOOC was created on the back of a European-wide research project looking at how best to integrate and deliver palliative care to people who have advanced cancer, heart failure, or lung disease.
The course will begin on 18 June but participants can watch the weekly lectures and contribute to discussions at any time.
