Grants for Spiritual Care Demonstration projects

Categories: Research.
As part of the George Washington University Institute for Spirituality & Health (GWish) Project, we are inviting our second cohort of clinician/chaplain pairs to develop and conduct demonstration projects consisting of interprofessional spiritual care clinical models that can be tested in multiple health settings.

This includes both inpatient and outpatient healthcare.

For this Second cycle we encourage and are accepting GLOBAL (outside of the USA) applications.
The purpose of these demonstration projects is to establish an evidence-base for spiritual care in clinical settings and share best practices among a growing network of spiritual care leaders through our ongoing Learning Collaborative.
As emerging leaders in this nascent field, all demonstration project participants will become part of a network of GWish Scholars, working with mentors, teachers, and fellow scholars to elevate spiritual health as a new standard of care across all healthcare systems.
If you or your organization wish to participate in this early-stage development of the field of spiritual health, we encourage you to apply. All teams must consist of one clinician and one chaplain from the same health setting.
The deadline for applications for the SECOND round of ASC Demonstration Projects is September 15th, 2025.
Five demonstration projects will be funded through this initiative and each will receive US$100,000 for the two year project.

    Thank you for the information.
This is a very encouraging project.
I’m doing a home based palliative care and in my team always a chaplain or spiritual comes along with me and nurse . The spiritual aspect has great impact on the patient and caregivers as well.
I’m interested to apply for this but work is in rural settings .

For the past seven years I have engaged with provision of spiritual care and emotional wellness for patients and relatives/staff members, especially cancer patients with the Palliative Care Unit, University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. I will be delighted to participate fully on this forth coming project. I already have Doctors, Nurses and social workers in my team, while I play the chaplain roles.
