The Marie Curie Research into Practice Conference 2026 is open for registration!

The conference, running 23-26 February 2026, will focus on some of the top 24 Priorities recently identified and prioritised by people with lived and professional experience in the refresh of the Palliative and end of life care Priority Setting Partnership with the James Lind Alliance (JLA PSP).

Our conference will showcase the latest research and its potential for translation into policy and practice, with a wide audience of practitioners, researchers, policy makers and anyone else with experience of, and interest in, palliative and end of life care.

In our welcome session, we’ll be celebrating the success and impact of Men’s Sheds in Hospices, before awarding this year’s conferences prizes. The prizes are open for nomination with a deadline of 9 January 2026.

We will once again host Spotlight and Abstract sessions each day. Sessions will focus on one or more of the Top 24 research priorities identified in the JLA PSP.

Including practice-focused Spotlight sessions such as:

Clearing the Way: A Spotlight on: Co-Produced Solutions to Improve Cough and Secretion Management in Motor Neurone Disease (MND) led by Dr Caroline Barry, Consultant in Palliative Medicine, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Associate Professor, University of East Anglia and Director of Norfolk and Waveney Motor Neurone Disease Care and Research Network.

A Spotlight on: It takes a village – Understanding the support that children and young people want and need when an adult is dying or has died with speakers including Jess Timperley, Senior Editor, Marie Curie, and Dr Stephen Marshall, clinical academic and palliative care social worker at King’s College Hospital and King’s College London.

A Spotlight on: Supporting people who are lonely in palliative and end of life care: current approaches and future possibilities, led by Emma Maun, Quantitative Research Manager, Marie Curie.

A Spotlight on: The end of life information needs of people with a learning disability and those who support them, led by health information professional Amy Matthews, Senior Editor, Marie Curie.

A key session welcoming representatives form Marie Curie and NIHR will highlight current initiatives and future directions in healthcare and research.

Following the presentations, attendees will join one of three breakout rooms to discuss the following JLA Priorities:

Enabling people to die well at home; what helps or hinders the delivery of care at home and what skills do staff (priority 3) and carers (priority 7) need
Better meeting the needs of people with multiple health conditions (priority 5)
Better meeting the needs of people who live alone or are socially isolated (priority 10)

These interactive spaces will provide opportunities to network, exchange insights, and explore ongoing and emerging research ideas that align with each theme.
