Chatsworth Hospice’s heartfelt appeal to the community

Categories: Care, Community Engagement, and Featured.

Like thousands of organisations in the country, the Chatsworth Hospice, which is situated in the heart of Silverglen, has also been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dubbed as ‘angels of compassion’, the dedicated officials and volunteers at the Chatsworth Regional Hospice Association are sincerely appealing for funds to help the organisation continue with its vital work in caring for the terminally ill and also providing support for their families free of charge.

As a non-governmental and non-profit organisation, the hospice relies on funding and of course, the public’s generous support to help sustain their essential services.

One of the many ways that funding is sourced is through the hospice’s Charity Shoppe, where a variety of beautiful second-hand items are being sold at extremely affordable prices. Of particular interest is the wide range of novels and literature that are up for sale.

The Rising Sun team recently visited the hospice and spoke with the acting president, Thilaga Pillay, who extended a warm invite to the community to visit the shoppe.

She said, “We invite the public to come through and browse. What better way to spend the lockdown than to relax with a good book? Furthermore, there are many more wonderful items on sale that are sure to catch your eye. We wish to extend our thanks to the public, donors, and well-wishers for their overwhelming show of support over the years. Please do visit our shoppe, which is open from Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm. We look forward to welcoming you.”

From good quality second-hand clothing, shoes and furniture to ornaments, kitchenware, toys and linen, residents will be sure to find many bargains at the shoppe.

Residents, corporates and organisations are encouraged to visit the shoppe or even make a delightful donation that will be used to provide comfort and care to the patients at the hospice.

Anyone willing to assist may contact the Chatsworth Hospice on 031 403-2273.
