You have made it to the final day of the conference. But it is not time to slow down just yet as there is still much more to see and do.
Day three begins with one more early start. This morning’s breakfast seminar, ‘Making sense of NICE guidelines: Best practice for motor neurone disease’, will share the latest findings about the end of life experiences of people living with MND. It is also an ideal opportunity to consider collaboration and the role that Hospice UK and its members might play to support delivery of the MND Association’s strategy. the seminar will be led by Chris James, director of external affairs at the MND Association.
The morning continues with more parallel sessions exploring the future of hospice care. You could attend a workshop exploring compassionate communities in action, or hear how children’s hospices are responding to our Commission into the Future of Hospice Care.
Use your breaks during the day to visit the full range of stands at our exhibition. This is a unique opportunity to build relationships with great companies whose work could help you become an effective change-maker in your organisation, so be sure to go and see all they have to offer – and to enter the associated prize draw.
For the final plenary you will hear from Dr Gail Eva, senior lecturer in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Brunel University where she teaches on cancer and palliative care rehabilitation, research methods and occupational therapy. Gail will be discussing how patients can be helped to maintain identity and value during advancing serious illnesses.
During lunch, make sure you join the oral poster tour when you will be able to meet the authors, learn about their work, and participate in animated discussions about the topics they cover.
After lunch, you will be able to choose from a final selection of parallel sessions. You can hear about the reality of choice available with in palliative care, consider innovative ways of generating income, or reflect on hospices’ experiences of using outcome measures to drive improvements.
The conference will close with a final word from our chief executive, Tracey Bleakley, who will announce the prizes for the best posters and exhibitor, and will announce the dates for the 2017 conference; make sure you get the dates in your diary.
