The grants are designed to help out seriously ill children whose families are struggling financially.
The charity’s finance and grants officer, Debbie Betts, explained on the charity’s website that while there is support available to address the immediate physical or financial pressures faced by families, the child’s “emotional and mental needs are just as important, and we aim to help fill that gap.”
Social workers and healthcare professionals are able to apply for a grant of up to £500 on behalf of seriously ill children and their families. The grants are designed to provide a variety of support, from art or music therapy sessions to family days out.
The grants form a part of the charity’s Stronger Families Programme which helps around 300 children and their families every year. Visit the charity’s website to find out more about the programme, including details of how to apply.
