Morgan Jones was recognised by King Charles III “for services to people living with a terminal illness and their families”.
Morgan Jones, who served as a Trustee for St Christopher’s from 2002 until 2021, was recognised by King Charles III “for services to people living with a terminal illness and their families”.
Mr Jones was Chair of the Board of Trustees at the hospice from 2014 before stepping down in 2021.
During his time at the hospice he led the fundraising of £2.5m for the building of St Christopher’s Anniversary Centre and later over saw the creation of the Centre for Awareness and Response to End of Life (CARE) – a £6.5m education facility next to the hospice site in Sydenham.
Mr Jones has also been personally generous with his time and money. Cycling from the hospice to Paris in 2017 and two years later to Amsterdam raising the impressive total of £81,000 for the charity.
He first heard of the hospice in the mid-1990s when his neighbour was Nigel Sykes, Medical Director at St Christopher’s at the time. He became a donor and later a trustee before his involvement became more personal in 2004 when his wife died at the hospice.
He was made a Vice President of the hospice for his service in 2023.
After news of the MBE was announced, the Board of Trustees, Vice Presidents and the organisation’s Executive Team celebrated with Morgan at St Christopher’s CARE.

“I will always support St Christopher’s and would like to dedicate this award to the wonderful staff and volunteers at the hospice.”
Helen Simmons, Chief Executive at St Christopher’s, said: “We’re delighted that Morgan Jones time at St Christopher’s has been recognised by King Charles III.”

“We’d like to extend a huge congratulations to Morgan from everyone here at St Christopher’s.”
