We’re so lucky to have 2 Newcastle United stars as official Hospice Ambassadors in Kieran Trippier and Graeme Jones. The NUFC player and Assistant Head Coach have visited the hospice on many occasions, helped with fundraising efforts and sent video messages to patients and families. Here’s what they got up to in May…
The pair took part in an exclusive ‘Quality Time’ with Jones & Trippier’ event at Arthur’s Bar in Fenwick Newcastle, which was attended by some of our closest friends and supporters. Graeme and Kieran took part in a Q&A session on stage, after which they mingles with guests and posed for photos.
As if that wasn’t enough, Kieran returned to our Children and Young Adults Service once again after one of our young adults, Dylan, challenged him to a game of FIFA – to see who was the best on the digital pitch! Another of our young adults, Ewan, joined in to support Dylan from the sidelines.
Dylan who plays the game using his tongue with his game controller, won the first match 5-2, while Kieran narrowly won the second 6-5. Dylan even used Trippier in the game to score against Trippier in real life!
Both agreed they need a decider match sometime the future.
Matron, Holly, added: “I’ve genuinely never seen some of our young adults so happy. Ewan has his sparkle back and Dylan is now discussing his dreams for after college. He wants to be either a referee or a coach.”
Thank you to Kieran and Graeme for your match-winning performances for us in May!
