Michelle Collins breaks ground  of £10 million Inpatient Unit

Categories: Fundraising.

On Thursday 24 September, Eastenders star and ambassador for North London Hospice, Michelle Collins, put on her hard hat and builders’ boots to mark a very special moment in the hospice’s history.

Reaching a milestone in the hospice’s enormous £10million Inpatient Unit rebuild project, a special ceremony was held where the first spade went into the soil and the groundwork for the new unit was laid. The project is the most ambitious venture that the hospice has undertaken since the Inpatient Unit was first built more than 30 years ago.

The event was attended by one of the hospice’s founders, Harriet Copperman, honorary presidents Penny Gluckstein and Geoffrey Hill, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Simon Morris MBE, Brenda Knoble and Warren Roiter from the Sandringham Charitable Foundation as well as The Worshipful Mayor of the London Borough of Barnet, Councillor Zahra Beg.

The building work has been part funded so far with over £8 million raised through a mixture of major donors, trusts and private sponsors as well as some government funding.

Soon we will be asking for the support of our community to help raise the final £1.7 million needed to complete the rebuild by next autumn.

Please look out for our public appeal in November and help us spread the word about how essential the new Inpatient Unit will be for all our loved ones for generations to come. You can find out more on our website here.
