The first, ‘generic’ version of the Narrative for person-centred coordinated care outlined perspectives shared by patients and service users across all conditions and stages of life.
Following adoption of this first, generic narrative by NHS England and other key health and social care organisations, National Voices is now working on four new narratives, each giving the perspective of a particular group of people.
These are:
- people nearing the end of life
- children and young people with complex needs
- people with continuing mental health needs
- frail and older people.
Each piece of work extends the generic narrative, and is intended to be used alongside it.
The draft narrative for people nearing the end of life, which aims to capture those additional factors and outcomes that are specifically important to people in their last 12 months of life, has been published by National Voices.
National Voices now wants to hear from service users and their carers, organisations, professionals, commissioners and providers, on the draft narrative.
Any comments/feedback should be emailed to narrative@nationalvoices.org.uk by Wednesday 19 February 2014.
