A team of dedicated Ward Staff including Nursing Assistants, Healthcare Assistants and an Occupational Therapist from the Inpatient unit at Heart of Kent Hospice have started fundraising for one of the Hospice’s flag ship events ‘Moonlit Memories Walk’ which takes place on 23 September 2023.
Pam Martin, Michaela Share, Leah Bishop, Debi Golding, Chloe Hazelwood and Sara Henderson have named their fundraising page ‘Shining Bright’ and all work alongside their clinical colleagues on the Heart of Kent Hospice ward.
The Ward Staff provide support to people and families who’ve been affected by a terminal illness and live in Maidstone and the surrounding area.
Michaela Share said:
“We wanted to walk alongside all our incredible Hospice supporters to show how much their support means to us.
“We also wanted to highlight the care our wonderful Hospice provides to patients and their families every day of the year.
Everybody receiving care at the Hospice is treated as an individual, whether it’s physical, mental or emotional support they need from the team. We want to continue supporting people to stay as independent as possible, for as long as possible and to help create experiences and memories that last a lifetime.”
The ward staff have already started fundraising for the event and are hoping to raise £1,000 towards their own fundraising target for the event. To help the team raise money visit their fundraising page.

The ‘Moonlit Memories Walk’ is one of Heart of Kent Hospice’s flag ship events and raises much needed funds to provide compassionate end-of-life care and support for patients and their families at the Hospice or at home across Maidstone and surrounding areas.
This popular fundraiser brings together family and friends for a fun, unique and truly unforgettable experience. The 8-mile circular route is on flat ground and includes a walk through a ‘magical lantern lit field’.
From 6:30pm everyone can enjoy the pre-event entertainment and activities at Capel Morris Centre including music, face painting, and all the fun warm-up exercises to get everyone limbered up and ready to go when the walk starts at 7:30pm. The circular route will pass through Aylesford, Larkfield and Leybourne before stopping at the refreshment station in West Malling.
After completing the walk everyone will receive a special edition Moonlit Memories Walk 2023 medal.

About Heart of Kent Hospice
Heart of Kent Hospice has been providing free, compassionate, end-of-life care to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones in Maidstone, Aylesford, Tonbridge and Malling and the surrounding towns and villages for the past 31 years.
The Hospice has built an excellent reputation within the local community for the quality of its care, which has been further endorsed by the Care Quality Commission who awarded us with an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ following an inspection in February 2017.
Our vision is for everyone living with a terminal illness in our community to achieve the best quality of life. We are committed to achieving this by enabling them to live in comfort, with independence and dignity to the end of their lives, and to support those closest to them.
Last year the Hospice cared for over 1,800 patients and their families in their own homes or at our Aylesford-based Hospice. Our services cost £5 million a year to run, and we depend heavily on our loyal community of supporters, whose generous donations and fundraising activities raise over £4 million.
