Lydiard Park was awash with colour on Saturday 16 August as more than 550 people of all ages took part in Prospect Hospice’s Run the Rainbow, raising over £32,000 so far to support specialist hospice care in the community.
Participants ran, jogged, walked or danced their way through the 5k course, getting showered with clouds of rainbow powder at every colour station. The event, part of Prospect Hospice’s 45th anniversary celebrations, was filled with laughter, music, and family fun, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for everyone involved.
Eight-year-old Lily, who took part with her family, said: “I loved running through the colours! My favourite was the blue one because it made me look like a Smurf. I can’t wait to do it again next year!”
Her mum, Sarah, added: “It was such a special day for us as a family. The event was so joyful, and knowing it’s all for such an important cause makes it even more meaningful. The hospice does incredible work, and it felt great to be part of something that helps so many people.”
Money raised from the event will go towards providing free, specialist care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families, across Swindon and north east Wiltshire.
