The annual Moonlit Walk, held on Saturday 4 October 2025 at Cobtree Manor Park, was the most successful yet and raised an impressive £31,000 for Heart of Kent Hospice.
There were a few last-minute changes to the planned route due to some tree damage caused by Storm Amy but that didn’t stop any of the keen walkers from completing their walking challenge.
This year 410 enthusiastic individuals registered to take part in the event—an increase of over 100 on the previous year. The event started with some lively entertainment, including a soulful performance by a choir, mesmerising routines from a stilt walker, and a captivating magician who helped kick off the festivities.

A highlight of the evening was the magical, illuminated one-mile woodland walk, providing an unforgettable experience for all involved. The event concluded with a reflective moment, featuring a projected memory dedication wall and heartfelt songs performed by singer Leah Sullivan.
Event Organiser and Events Manager, Maisie Bass, expressed her gratitude:
“Everyone at the hospice looks forward to putting on our annual Moonlit Walk which is one of the highlights in our events calendar. It was so moving to see so many walkers wearing our new Moonlit T-shirts with the names of their loved ones written on the back.
We want to thank everyone who took part to help fundraise for the hospice which can only continue to provide free care and support to the community thanks to legacies, grants and successful fundraising events and appeals. This event was only possible thanks to the support we received from the wonderful performers, the lighting company, all our hospice volunteers and employees and of course all the amazing walkers. We hope to see everyone again next year!”
About Heart of Kent Hospice
Heart of Kent Hospice has recently received the Charity of the Year Award at the Kent Charity Awards 2025.
For 34 years, the hospice has provided free, compassionate, end-of-life care to individuals with terminal illnesses and their loved ones in Maidstone, Aylesford, Tonbridge and Malling, and surrounding towns and villages.
The hospice is highly respected within the local community for its exceptional care, further confirmed by an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission following an inspection in February 2017.
The hospice’s vision is to ensure everyone in the community living with a terminal illness can achieve the best possible quality of life. The dedicated team supports patients to live with comfort, independence, and dignity, while also caring for their families.
Over the past year, the hospice has supported more than 2,000 patients and their families, either at home or at its Aylesford-based facility.
To continue delivering these vital services, the charity must raise £7.4 million each year and relies heavily on donations and fundraising efforts from the community.
