Schools encouraged to race against Rudolph in the very first St Christopher’s Reindeer Dash!

Categories: Featured and Fundraising.

This December, St Christopher’s Hospice is calling on teachers and schools in south east London to take part in a Reindeer Dash to raise money for the charity, whilst getting well and truly into the festive spirit during the last days of term!
The idea behind the event is that teachers from various schools will each decide on a date and a distance that suits their classes, before gathering everyone together to run – or walk, or hop, or skip, or jump! – along a safe local route, wearing themed Reindeer Dash antlers and collecting sponsorship from family and friends in the weeks leading up to the race.

At the end of the year, we will then be able to add up the total distance covered by every child at all the participating schools combined, and see how far around the world we’ve dashed – and whether it’s a match for the infamous long haul flight undertaken by the real Rudolph!

St Christopher’s will be providing all the materials needed to host a Reindeer Dash, including advice regarding setting up fundraising and sponsorship pages, and can even visit local schools on the chosen days of their Dashes to cheer children on and speak in assemblies or classrooms about why the hospice needs their money this winter.

As a registered charity, we need to raise £15 million every year to care for people and their families at the end of life, and the festive period is an especially important time for us all to reach out and support each other, however and wherever we can. Without the ongoing efforts and donations from local communities, businesses, schools and individuals, the hospice wouldn’t be able to deliver the critical care services it’s relied upon for – and so every step ran in the Reindeer Dash will go a long way to helping those most in need.
