Mercy Hospice Auckland and the Community and Long Term Conditions Directorate, ADHB, seek an experienced and enthusiastic clinical leader to support the development of quality specialist palliative care services across ADHB. In addition you will lead the transformation and delivery of evidence based and high quality palliative care with opportunities to improve integration with other providers across our community including general practice, aged care services, community services and NGOs.
Palliative Care Services are evolving in Auckland District; we are working to support a locality model which will maximise the contribution of all clinical skills in the locality team, in proactive and self-directed wrap around services for our population. We are keen to transform the way we deliver specialist palliative care services, and make the model sustainable, through integration and working towards the delivery of a service without walls. In this role you will lead the hospital specialist team and provide clinical guidance to Mercy Hospice’s IPU and community specialist teams.
We seek someone who can inspire and lead from the front and ensure strong clinical governance across services and professionals. You will be an experienced palliative care specialist (doctor or nurse) and have superior leadership skills, gained from your experience and from tertiary level education and training. You will relish the challenge of service change and development and be a big picture thinker, with well-developed people leadership capabilities.
As the System Clinical Director you will clinically lead the hospital specialist clinical workforce which together with the hospice’s clinical workforce constitute up to 70FTE across the hospital and hospice providers. This permanent position is negotiable up to 1 FTE with a 40/60 leadership/clinical component split. On call duties, as part of a roster for the specialist team, will be a feature of this role. For suitably-qualified clinicians there will be the potential for an appropriate University appointment and the opportunity to grow the research portfolio within the Directorate. To be successful in this challenging and rewarding position you will have a strong interest in delivering integrated care and the development of new community based models of care.
This really is an opportunity to influence the shape of health care for the future of our community.
