The Marie Curie Research into Practice Conference returns for 2027 – submit abstracts by 23 October

Categories: Education and Research.

Every year, the UK’s leading end of life care charity, Marie Curie, hosts the Research into Practice Conference. In 2027, the conference will run on week commencing 22 February. It is once again online, free and open to all. Registration opens later in 2026.

The conference brings together experts across palliative and end of life care to ensure that the latest evidence is widely disseminated, improving the care and support for people at the end of life, and the people who care for them. This supports Marie Curie in our vision to improve end of life care for all.

The conference will showcase the latest research and its potential translation into policy and practice. We also aim to share the latest examples of service innovation, evaluation and improvement. The conference welcomes a diverse audience of practitioners, researchers, policymakers, system leaders, service providers, and others with an interest in, or experience of palliative and end of life care.

It is free, and welcomes an international audience, making research and evidence accessible to everyone to support impact on practice and policy.

Expect a mix of spotlight sessions focusing on topics, thematic areas and/or underserved groups, and a range of abstract presentations and posters similarly spanning topics across palliative and end of life care.

We are inviting abstracts for short oral presentations and/or posters on research aligning to one or more of the priority areas identified by the priority setting partnership for palliative and end of life care with the James Lind Alliance and/or areas in UK nation health policy priorities relevant to palliative and end of life care.  This includes areas such as:

  • Identifying palliative care needs
  • 24/7 provision of care
  • Care communication and coordination
  • Care close to home – in the community and care homes
  • Personalised care
  • Workforce training and support.

While the scope of submissions focuses on priorities identified in the UK, we welcome international submissions. See last year’s abstracts here on the BMJ SPC. Find out more and submit an abstract by 23 October 2026 by visiting our website.
