The Martlets Hospice: full of pride

Categories: Community Engagement.

The annual Brighton Pride Festival is organised by Brighton Pride, a community interest company who promote equality and diversity and advance education to eliminate discrimination against the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

This year more than fifty staff and volunteers from The Martlets Hospice took part in the Brighton Pride parade. Marching with a banner which read ‘Full of Pride! Caring or LGBT people in our city’, the hospice received an “incredible” reception from the crowds lining the streets.

Georgina Lestini, head of marketing and communications at the hospice, said: “It was an amazing experience to be involved and part of the parade. The Martlets team had great fun during the day.

“What was incredible were the many thank yous and well wishes we received from the spectators lining the streets. It was a very humble experience to see how many lives have been touched by The Martlets in Brighton and Hove.

“It was also an incredible opportunity to reveal our new brand to our local community.”

Earlier this year staff and volunteers from nine London hospices took part in the London Pride parade to help spread the message that “hospices are here for everyone”.
