A Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award Winner, this marks the company’s second year on the Best Places to Work list, which is developed solely on the input of employees.
BAYADA Home Health Care has been honored with a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award, recognizing the Best Places to Work in 2019. The Employees’ Choice Awards program, now in its 11th year, is based solely on the input of employees, who elect to provide feedback on their job experiences, work environments and companies on Glassdoor, one of the world’s largest job and recruiting sites.
BAYADA’s position at No. 73 is a gain of more than 25 spots over last year, marking the largest increase in rank among health care companies who were awarded the honor in 2018 and 2019.
“We believe our employees have a special calling toward the meaningful work we do each day to help our clients live safely at home with dignity,” said BAYADA Chief Executive Officer David Baiada. “Our aim is to cultivate a supportive environment that celebrates and strengthens that spirit and commitment among our clinicians and staff. We’re proud that our employees recognize and appreciate our company’s culture, and we are honored by this Glassdoor designation.”
BAYADA hires clinicians who are connected to purpose and who Love What They Do because it is their calling—and goes to great lengths to recognize and reward that commitment, with nearly a dozen employee recognition programs providing scholarships, incentives and perks. As the first home care provider to offer nurses the opportunity to practice their skills in a clinical simulation lab, BAYADA also helps to foster employees’ individual growth with a variety of training and educational programs including nurse residency programs, specialization and certifications. In addition to investing in employees through competitive salary and tailored career progression, the company also supports clinicians with workflow-streaming technology such as tablets, electronic documentation and telehealth communications.
The company’s Glassdoor honor comes on the heels of BAYADA Founder and Chairman Mark Baiada’s Thanksgiving-week surprise announcement that he is distributing $20 million of his personal funds to his employees as part of a “Gift of Gratitude,” a tangible gesture that represents the company’s truly unique culture. This announcement comes as Mark Baiada is finalizing the company’s transition to a nonprofit entity, believed to be the first of its kind in the home health care industry. The move to nonprofit is designed to ensure that the important work of the organization—guided by The BAYADA Way™ mission, vision and core values of compassion, excellence, and reliability—will continue for generations to come, and that good people who are called to a higher level of serving will always have a place of value at BAYADA.
“In today’s tight labor market, job seekers are in the driver’s seat when it comes to deciding where to work and they want to know the inner workings of a company before accepting a new job. To help people find the best jobs and the best companies, the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards recognize employers at the top of their game,” said Dr. Andrew Chamberlain, Glassdoor Chief Economist. “For employers, we know that a satisfied and engaged workforce helps drive financial performance. Glassdoor Best Places to Work winners are strategically investing in company culture, career growth opportunities and more, which also serves as a major recruiting advantage.”
On Glassdoor, current and former employees voluntarily and anonymously share insights and opinions about their work environments by sharing a company review, designed to capture a genuine and authentic inside look at what a specific job may be like at a particular company. When sharing a company review on Glassdoor, employees are asked to rate their satisfaction with the company overall, and key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation and benefits, culture and values, senior management and work/life balance. In addition, employees are asked to describe the best reasons to work at their companies as well as any downsides.
Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work were determined using company reviews shared by U.S.-based employees between October 23, 2017 and October 21, 2018. To be considered for the large category, a company must have had at least 1,000 or more employees and have received at least 75 ratings across each of the eight workplace attributes from U.S.-based employees during the period of eligibility. The final list is compiled using Glassdoor’s proprietary algorithm, led by its Economic Research Team, and takes into account quantity, quality and consistency of reviews.
