The Multifaceted Nature of Pain

Categories: Education.

MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care is offering a free webinar, The Multifaceted Nature of Pain, on November 5, 2020 at 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. ET.

The purpose of this webinar is to reflect on the nature of pain as a natural alarm and a starting point for recovery, and not only an ailment to be numbed.

Why Do I Need to Know This?  The failure of the medical establishment in treating chronic pain, urges us to reacquaint ourselves with the multifaceted nature of pain, and address it holistically and humanely.

Objectives:

1) Explain the biological, emotional, cognitive, behavioral, social, and spiritual components of chronic pain

2) Recognize the essential failure behind the pure medicalization of chronic pain

3) Discuss the pivotal role that palliative medicine can play in the healing process of chronic pain, thanks to its multidisciplinary nature

Presented by:

Cristian Zanartu, MD
Director of Hospice Physician Services
