Kiss-May: A new campaign to raise money for hospice care

Categories: Community Engagement.

Kiss-May is a new ‘quick win’ social media campaign, masterminded by the Care2Save Charitable Trust, to help hospices to collaboratively raise awareness and money for hospice care.

Supporters take a selfie, text a donation to the Kiss-May campaign and share their selfie on social media to show their support.

At the time of writing, 31 hospices across the UK are taking part, and The National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC) is promoting Kiss-May as part of Dying Matters Week.

There is no cost involved to hospices who sign up, and all funds raised from the Kiss-May campaign will be shared with those who decide to take part.

If you want to be part of the campaign you need to get in touch with Carol Smith, Care2Save Secretary, at carol.smith@care2save.co.uk and return the completed terms of reference before 15 May, in preparation for Kiss-May Day on 29 May.

What we ask people to do on Kiss-May day:

  • Apply red lipstick and take a selfie – you can take one on your own or get a group of friends together. Be creative, or try a red lipstick imprint on your cheek / someone else’s cheek!
  • Post your selfie to the Kiss-May Facebook page or Twitter feed, and make sure to use the hashtag #KissMay so that campaign followers can see your upload. Share your photo with friends and family to build momentum.
  • Text KISS29 £2 to 70070 to send a £2 text donation to the Kiss-May campaign (The cost is £2 plus the standard message charge for your phone tariff).
  • You can also change your social media profile picture to the Kiss-May logo, and add a twibbon to your profile to show your support.
